Social Media Policies

Today the world uses Social Media as a connection platform. You will notice that I have a link to my own Facebook page and Twitter account. To be authentic and  transparent I outline my personal and professional policies in relation to the use of Social Media, contact and my code of conduct.

Facebook & Friend Requests

I do have a personal Facebook page, which I like to keep separate with photos of my family and personal friends. As a rule I do not accept current or former clients as friends on my personal Facebook page, as I feel it can blur the boundaries of our therapeutic relationship. The issue of privacy and the possibility of compromising your confidentiality is something I take seriously.

The link attached to my web site is for my professional practice. You will find my blog, instagram updates and info on my upcoming events. I welcome you to Like my Facebook page where you can read and share articles/postings.  click here to go to my fb page.

If you would like to post feedback regarding sessions, or groups please be mindful that you may be sharing personal information. Others nay will see your post so it may be wise to use a pseudonym when sharing.

Contacting me

If you want to contact me to ask me a question about an article, an appointment or an upcoming event, please do not make contact by facebook posts or other online means of engaging, as it can compromise your confidentiality. Please email me directly at hello@natajsawagner.com

If I am with a client or unavailable, please leave a message and I will get back to you within 72 hours. You can email me directly: hello@natajsawagner.com

Contacting you

In the event of a crisis or unexpected event, there may be the need for me to make contact with a client via a search engine, such as Google or Facebook. This is extremely rare and it is not a regular practice. However, if there is reason to suspect that you are in danger or have not turned up for an appointment and I cannot contact you by the normal means (email or telephone) it is my duty of care to ensure that you are safe.

Should this eventuate, your confidentiality will be respected, it will be well documented and naturally I will discuss it with you at our next session.

Out and about

There may be times when I run into a client at the shopping centre, coffee shop or local venue. To maintain your privacy, I make it a practice not to approach or acknowledge clients if I do see them. By all means if you see me and want to say hello, I will reciprocate. You are welcome to share with family and friends that I am your therapist, but this needs to come from you, not me. So please do not be offended if you see me and I do not acknowledge you.

Code of Conduct

I pride myself on working within the guidelines of the GANZ code of ethics:

  • Holding respect for the essential humanity, worth and dignity of all people

  • Honouring the trusting the integrity of the client therapist relationship

  • Recognition of and respect for cultural, religious and sexual diversity among people and opposing discrimination, oppressive and other unjust behaviours.

  • Respecting privacy and preserving the confidentiality of information acquired in the course of sessions.

  • Protection of the rights of, and promotion of personal responsibilities

  • Competence and good governance

  • Abiding by the laws of the society in which they are constituted.

Applying the code of ethics not only applies to my work, but to my everyday values. My personal ethics include working in a way that holds, honesty & authenticity, kindness and compassion to all beings and integrity.

Thank you for taking the time to read through my policy.
